Emraan Hashmi to shake a leg at Mohit Suri’s wedding

Actor Emraan Hashmi is all set to dance at his cousin, Mohit Suri’s post-wedding ceremony. It will be a part of a special family act for the groom.
Mohit Suri will be tying the knot with his lady-love, Udita Goswami on 29th January. The two of them have been together since seven years, ever since Mohit directed Udita in the film Zeher.
Emraan and his cousin Smiley Suri[Mohit’s sister] will join for a dance performance on January 31stat a post-wedding cocktail party.
“Emraan and I will be performing on a special song for Mohit’s cocktail party post his wedding. There is also a secret act planned, and I can’t reveal much about it,” Smiley said.
“Emraan’s son Ayaan and his wife Parveen will also be in the act, so we are all excited about it. There are going to be lot of surprises for Mohit on that day,” she added.
Smiley, who was a part of Mohit’s film Kalyug, is excited about her brother’s temple wedding.
“The wedding will be held at the Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple. It will be a traditional wedding and we will be having a mehndi ceremony on Jan 28 at our place,” she said.
For now, she is busy arranging a designer for Mohit.
“Mohit is busy with his film right now. I won’t be shocked if he lands up wearing a pair of jeans on his wedding. So I am trying my best to get a designer for him. We all are very excited and Mohit is my only brother, so I am all the more excited for his wedding,” she said.

Salman Khan’s Rs.500crore deal with Star India

Salman Khan made a come-back of sorts with the 2009 blockbuster – Wanted. Since then, he has given back to back hits and has become a brand of sorts. There I no doubt about his caliber and his brand value has always been a topic of discussion. And now, reportedly Salman Khan has struck a Rs.500 crore deal with an entertainment channel.
Apparently this deal is a first of its kind in the country as it is an agreement that all of Salman’s movies that will be released in the next five years will be aired by the channel.
Owing to the fact that Salman Khan is a very popular actor and a recent analysis which showed his prowess in the social media as well, looks like the star has struck a chord with the audiences of all age groups. If we check a list of all his movies in the recent years, eight of his films have crossed the Rs.100cr mark!
But all days are not rosy are they? Five years is a really long time don’t you think? Well, touch wood! As of now, let’s raise a toast to his success!

Barfi! and Kahaani rule the roost at the Filmfare Awards


Kahaani and Barfi!It was a night of cherishing two of the amazing films that we saw last year – Barfi! and Kahaani. Both the films received the maximum awards at the Filmfare awards last night.
The movies were not only unusual but also path-breakers of sorts. The movies which had won our hearts, won many awards in several categories at the 58th Filmfare Awards.
There was competition but none that could surpass the marvel of Ranbir Kapoorin Barfi! And no doubt, yet again he was awarded the Best Actor award for the film. Ileana D’cruz with her lovely performance took away the Best Debut Award (Female) for the same film. Barfi! won 7 of the 9 awards it had been nominated for!
The Best Background Score and Best Music Director awards went to Pritam for Barfi!, and award for Best Production Design went to Rajat Podar for the same film.
Vidya Balan’s breath-taking portrayal of a pregnant woman in Kahaani won her the Best Actress award another time!
Kahaani continued its winning spree as Sujoy Ghosh was handed the Best Director Award, Sanjay Maurya and Allwin Rego took away the award for the Best Sound Design.
Two major awards for Kahaani came from Namrata Rao bagging the Best Editing title and Sethu winning Best Cinematography.
Vicky Donor was a movie we all loved and no doubt the lead, Ayushmann Khurrana was loved even more. He had a double bonanza yesterday winning both the awards for Best Debut (Male) and Best Playback Singer (Male) for the song Paani Da.
The story of Vicky Donor which stood out in an industry with so many stereotypes, won the Best Story Award for Juhi Chaturvedi. Best Actor Supporting Role (Male) was handed out to Annu Kapoor for the same movie.
Anushka Sharma won Best Actor in Supporting Role (Female) award for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, while Gulzar won the Best Lyrics award for Challa from Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
Gauri Shinde, the Director of English Vinglish won the Best Debut Director award.
The The award for Best Dialogue went to Anurag Kashyap, Akhilesh Jaiswal, Sachin K Ladia and Zeishan Qadri for Gangs of Wasseypur. Best Screenplay Award was given out to Sanjay Chouhan and Tigmanshu Dhulia for Paan Singh Tomar.
Award for the Best Playback Singer (Female) went to Shalmali Kholgade for the song Pareshaan in Ishaqzaade.
Filmfare Award for Best Action went to Sham Kaushal for Gangs of Wasseypur and Best Choreography to Bosco-Caesar for the peppy and groovy song Aunty Ji from Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
Neeti Mohan won the RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for her beautiful rendering of Jiya Re from Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ishq Wala Love from Student Of The Year.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to the Late Yash Chopra. His wife Pamela Chopra received the award from Madhuri Dixit Nene on his behalf. Incidentally, Madhuri had worked in Yash Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai which was one of his most successful directorial ventures.
Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor Male was given to Irrfan Khan for Paan Singh Tomar and Richa Chaddha won the same award in female category for Gangs of Wasseypur. Best Film in this category was awarded to Gangs of Wasseypur.
The event was hosted by Shahrukh KhanSaif Ali Khan and Karan Johar. The Filmfare Award, which is generally a black lady was decorated with a golden base this year to commemorate the 100years of Indian cinema.

Salman Khan’s trip to the US is postponed

Salman Khan’s trip to the US for the treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia, has been postponed. The superstar underwent a surgery early 2011 for this nervous disorder and has been asked to visit the hospital for regular check-ups.
At a recent event, Salman Khan told reporters, “Now I don’t have the pain. I will be going just for the check-up but even that has been postponed now.”
Reports stated that Salman was to fly to the US by end of this month.
Brother Sohail Khan said: “He will be going for a treatment soon but the date has not been fixed. It’s a two years treatment with four visits and he has to go there every six to eight months for treatment. Date is not yet fixed… he will be going sometime in February or March.”
Meanwhile, as reported earlier, Salman Khan has struck a Rs.500 crore deal with an entertainment channel. A first of its kind in India, apparently, Salman’s movies that will release in the next five years will be aired by the channel. In the recent years, eight of Salman Khan’s films have crossed the Rs.100cr mark.
Looks like Salman is slowly becoming a favorite among all age groups.

Ekta Kapoor very confident about ‘Shootout at Wadala

Ekta Kapoor is pretty confident about her next ambitious venture “Shootout at Wadala”, which is based on the first-ever registered encounter by Mumbai police. She hopes that the film makes it to the Rs. 200 crore club.
Filmmaker Ekta Kapoor feels the Rs. 100 crore club is now passe and its time to start a new trend of Rs.200 crore business.
“Today, every film does Rs.100 crore business… even a film which earns Rs.95 crore, joins the Rs.100 crore club business,” Ekta said.
“So now it’s time to create a new trend. ‘Shootout at Wadala’ is unique and I hope it makes Rs.200 crore club. Is there any club of that, should we start one?” She added.
Ekta was at the launch of the live trailer of ‘Shootout at Wadala’.
Pretty confident about her upcoming film, Ekta Kapoor said, “I have made a film and the film is based on a book, so if the book is doing great, then why should I be scared? I think one should remain true to their heart, rest will fall into place.”
“I think actors have been brave to play the roles and the director has been brave enough to make the film. Also, I think I am in a brave position now to given such films,” added the filmmaker.
The film is directed by Sanjay Gupta and will hit theaters on May 1. It stars John Abraham, Kangna Ranaut, Tushar Kapoor and Sonu Sood.
